How to apply

Article

UK and EU students

You must apply for PGCE programmes through the UCAS Teacher Training website. Our institution code is G56 GOLD.

International (non-EU) students

You apply through UCAS Teacher Training in the same way as home and EU students. You will need our institution code, which is G56 GOLD.

As well as UK qualifications, we accept many equivalent overseas qualifications. To check to see if your qualifications are of an equivalent standard to the UK academic entry requirements for the PGCE programme we recommend that you contact UK NARIC.

Once we receive your PGCE application from UCAS Teacher Training, if any of your qualifications are unclear then we will automatically contact you by email for further information.

Please note: the Department of Educational Studies belongs to a European teacher training group. If you have A-level equivalent qualifications from a country other than the UK (Baccalauréat, Abitur and so on), providing a breakdown of your marks for each subject on the UCAS form will speed up the processing of your application.

Who can apply

Please read through all the entry requirements for the PGCE that you would like to apply for, as well as the information on the fitness to train requirements and regulations for entry for all of our teacher training courses.

When choosing who can join the PGCE courses, we do not have a set idea of the perfect person – we are interested in applicants from all sorts of backgrounds. Find out about how we select our students.

When to apply

Applications open on 27 October.

There's no closing date for primary or secondary applications, but we advise you to apply early to make sure your application is considered.
