Two students from Goldsmiths, University of London have been selected as part of a national search for new talent in the media industry.
Rebecca Graham and Eduard Perise, who are both studying for an MA in Filmmaking, were chosen by Channel 4 after impressing during a day of skills workshops with the broadcaster earlier this month.
The duo were two of 150 students selected to attend the day in Bristol, during which they made a spoof film about Brexit which was named the joint best film of the day.
As a result, Rebecca and Eduard were named among the 15 Rising Stars to come from the scheme, and have been added to a talent pool from which Channel 4 select freelance staff.
Graham said: “We were divided into directors, producers, camera, editors and onscreen talent. Ed and I worked together and had three hours to come up with an idea for a two minute factual film based on the values of the Paralympics – though this didn’t have to be literal.
“We chose to make a satirical short and interviewed the public, telling them that Brexit had been called off, and highlighting that we were believed without question. This illustrated the power of fake news. Though it was funnier than we imagined it would be.”
Graham and Perise are currently working together on their Graduation Film.
